Y’all, I am a PLANNER! I need the ORDER to stay sane. Maybe you already know this from my Chore Chart Planning Guide? I mean I even titled that one “Creating a Home of Peace” Workbook!
Why? Because a plan gives me direction! It gives me the peace of mind that I have prepared, that I won’t be floundering, and I can truly focus on more important aspects of life throughout my week.
I plan my business time using a Google calendar with recurring events. I plan our home life on a huge calendar on the Command Wall. I plan the budget with Google Sheets. I plan the dinner menu on scrap paper. I plan out my teaching lessons, a daily to-do list, a chore chart, and even plan my workout clothes & weekly outfits during my Mom Power Pockets! You get the point, right? I will be sharing with you my tips for each of those, but today’s post is all about how I plan my daily menu.
I am asked a LOT about planning a menu. I began menu planning years before I coached other women on how to do this.
Oh, and sis, I’ve done it all when it comes to planning a menu: plain notebook paper, a printed calendar, an excel spreadsheet, scrap paper, cute printouts from Pinterest, etc. You name it, I’ve tried it.
I have planned month-long menus, week-long menus, daily menus, menus with full lists of ingredients, and a throw down scrappy dinner menu only. (I told you I love to plan!)
The Daily Menu
My family does not need a run down daily menu for them. As a matter of fact, I think my Superman would all out reject his day being planned like this. But, alas, we are different people. So I want something small, portable, lightweight, and lovely for just me. (Sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself!)
I had a friend gift this simple (and inexpensive) planner to me, and I fell in love. I eat 6 small meals each day & this basically creates a “budget for my belly”. Since I began my weight loss journey, the daily menu planning like this has literally kept me on track and helped me to create and execute a plan.
I normally sit down on a Saturday or Sunday and lay out the entire “blueprint” for my week. I know by following the right portions for my body with the systems I’ve created my weight will stay off! It’s been 3 years and the weight has yet to come back on.
