The Beginning of the End
In the last post in this series, I shared with you how and why I began to claim God’s affirmations in my life! I shared my struggle in life and how I needed His power to intervene in my Spirit! I struggled to feel loved. I struggled to feel worthy. I struggled to know His appointment and calling in my life. Can you relate, my sweet Sister?
I swallowed the lie Satan fed me about who I was. Looking back I realize that I was sitting at Satan’s “All You Can Eat Buffet” of lies and filling myself up on the Enemy’s trash talk! Creating and using Godly affirmations became the beginning of the end of an old mindset.
If you missed the first post in this series, just follow this link here to read, then come back! I promise it’s worth the read to give you a bit more background!
I shared in the first part of this series just how I used the Power of God’s Truth to open my eyes to this and transformed my mind! (Romans 12:1-2) Here are those first three affirmations I created to claim over my life.
The Power of God’s Truth
Claiming and affirming God’s words validate His power in our lives. It’s not about the “getting what we want” mentality that the world claims with affirmations. We are not talking about the “Universe” giving us what we want because we say it out loud. No, Giant Slayer, we are talking about God’s Truth.
Claiming God’s affirmations in our lives reminds us of two important truths:
- His Word is HIS Truth. He is who He says He is.
- His Word is OUR Truth. We are who He says we are.
His Truth, my dear, is YOUR SuperPower. He is YOUR Father and you are joint-heirs with Christ. This means you have a birthright for His blessings in your life TODAY! It’s not just the promises He gives for the future. It is the TRUTH He gives for your present.
Straight from Scripture
These words I’m sharing with your, Giant Slayer, are words the Spirit has laid upon my heart. Words I’ve prayed over to ensure I’m not speaking fluff, but that I speak His truth for your mind. Notice here what I’ve discovered in Scripture while on this journey.
Alive and Active
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 )
For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. (Psalm 33:4)
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17)
Light to Our Path
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105)
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. (Isaiah 40:8)
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35)
As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. (Psalm 18:30)
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. (Phil 2:14-16a)
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)
Full of Wisdom
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. (Psalm 119:130)
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (Matthew 7:24)
Can you see the benefit of KNOWING God’s Truth and Power? As His children, we have direct access to Him through His words. Remember Christ Jesus was God’s Word that became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). I discuss this point fully in my e-course *UNLABELED*.
Knowing God’s Truth and Power affirms to us that when we claim His Words in our lives, we are using His truth and His power to work in our lives. It is not by our own works, but by His mighty hand!
There is security in knowing that I can trust fully trust, cling to, and affirm what God says about Himself and about me with His words. There is power to combat the Enemy (more to come on this too)!
Claiming God’s Words through affirmations says, “Lord, I trust Your word. I trust Your power. I trust You. I know Your promises are not only meant for some far-off future in the heavenly realm. I know Your Words are true for my life now.”
Affirmations for You
In part one of this series, I shared with you my first three affirmations. Today, I want to share with you a few more affirmations that I personally practice to give you words of Power and Hope this week!
I find these two especially helpful when I’m not certain the direction I should take with a decision I need to make. I worry this specific thought, “What if this is NOT the right choice?” Does this thought haunt you as well?
These affirmations remind me that God’s word is full of wisdom and instruction; that I can trust what He instructs me to do. I do not have to doubt or regret decisions I make as long as they are based on glorifying God. By speaking this affirmation over my life, I also remember that spending time with Him, listening to His words will guide me in every choice I make.
*I also want to insert here that in my personal life I have found a direct correlation between spending quiet time with God and peace in my life for decisions that I make. I have found that the more time I spend with Him, the more I crave His purpose for my life and know my decisions are based on His precepts. This brings about a Godly confidence that brings peace and joy!*
So where do I write these Godly affirmations?
I personally use the “In the Word” printable I have to write these during my devotional time. Sister, I have two versions of this:
